I was by Pioneer Park this morning and approached it from the west. It looks like the new path is being done similarly to Riverside Park - right up against the beach. You can see in the first picture how it's branching off to the left toward the river.
As per the other discussion, I'm not sure this is the best idea either considering what the park is used for.

You comment about Riverside is the only one that makes sense for locating this here. The difference is that Pioneer is an off-leash area for dogs, which significantly changes the traffic volume / type / patterns. No reply yet from Fretz / Putnam to my e-mail.
